*Advance Notice* Exhibition – Christmas 2024

This is your autumnal update from a bright, sunny October day in North Norfolk. The seasonal change of the guard overhead has taken place. As Pinkfoot geese replace the Swallows of summer, heralding cosier evenings indoors, this is the ideal time to think about a new piece of wall art, some tableware for dinner gatherings or a scarf to wrap up warm…

For nearly 20 years, the gallery has welcomed visitors in late November to a specially rehung collection which always includes a small number of new ORIGINAL paintings.

These will be published on my website, at the same time as the show opens, on 29th November. That way,  far flung collectors will not miss out!  Below, is one of my 2024 major works to whet your appetite…

If you can, do join us for the preview evening on Friday 29th November between 6 and 9pm or over the opening weekend, Saturday 30th November and Sunday 1st December 10am-5pm.

With fairy lights and refreshments we will welcome you!

RHS Chelsea Flower Show 2023

This coming week, I am delighted to be a part of the 2023 RHS Chelsea Flower Show in London.
I am bringing you an exhibit of major, large paintings and a selection of smaller pieces.  I have continued to evolve some of the themes from the 2022 show and included some new subjects; not exhibited before. The joy of returning to peonies, irises, and the iconic rose has been irresistible. The pull towards statuesque delphiniums has been overwhelming!!

If you would like to be the first to see new paintings whenever I launch them, please do sign up to my mailing list. With only four or five emails per year, you will definitely not feel ‘spammed’ but you will be assured of seeing new paintings first!

If you plan to visit the show, I am on stand EAW408 which is about 50m from the Royal Hospital entrance and before you turn to the dhow gardens. Do come and say hello.

RHS Chelsea Flower Show – May 2022

September 2021 Exhibition Stand

In January 2022 the world is planning a move to its proper (pre-Covid) axis. The return of RHS Chelsea Flower Show to the third week of May is a welcome part of this. I am delighted to announce that I am exhibiting at the show for the 11th time. Tickets are now available for the show which runs between 24th and 28th May 2022.

I will be back with more information regarding my exhibit in the Spring. If you would like to be the first to see the new paintings I will launch at the show, please do sign up to my mailing list. With only four or five emails per year, you will definitely not feel ‘spammed’ but you will be assured of seeing new paintings first!

Save the Date November 2021…

Here at the gallery in North Norfolk we are preparing to hold our Christmas Exhibition. From the opening in late November until the end of January there will be different ways to get involved whether you can get to the gallery or not. Having missed one last year, this one will be a HUMDINGER!

New original paintings will be uploaded to the website and available to buy on Friday 26th November 2021. The updated range of prints, tableware and scarves will also be available to be ordered online and delivered in time for Christmas.

If you are able to join us, please come to the gallery in Great Walsingham, UK. On the evening of 26th November (6-9pm) and for the weekend of 27th & 28th November (10am-5pm) we will be launching the exhibition. With fairy lights and refreshments we will be welcoming you.

Also, for in person visitors, there will be a ‘Studio Sale’ element to the show for the first time in six years. In preparation for the addition of new products to the range in Spring 2022, discontinued prints, calendars and tablemats will be DISCOUNTED. This is only the second sale in 12 years, so it is not to be missed!

More information closer to the time. First look will be given to my mailing list so hit the subscribe button if you want to be in the first flush…

Counting Down….

An original painting of palest pink tree peonies on red gold leaf by UK artist Sarah Caswell

…to the first ‘Away’ Event for over two years. On Friday 17th September my team and I will be travelling to set up the exhibit at the postponed 2021 RHS Chelsea Flower Show which, at time of writing, I think it is FAIRLY safe to say will go ahead.

This will be my 10th exhibit there and as usual, I will be unveiling work that has not been shown there before. I have included a couple of pieces that were due to go in 2020 because they are too special not to have their day in the sun.

The show will be as Covid safe as we can make it. The majority of the exhibits (including mine) are in the open air, all staff are tested regularly and all visitors will be asked to hand sanitise and take precautions where possible.

If you are planning to visit the show this year, do come and visit me on Stand EA418. We are about 50 metres down Eastern Avenue from the Royal Hospital entrance. We are on the right, just before you turn to the show gardens and floral pavilion.

All new paintings will appear on the website by 20th September 2021

RHS Chelsea Flower Show 2021

Sarah Caswell paintings RHS Chelsea Flower Show stand 2019

In its 108 year history, the third week in May has become so synonymous with the RHS Chelsea Flower Show that it has given its name to the ‘Chelsea Chop’ when gardeners give plants a good pruning!

On the list of new things happening during pandemic days, one of the most welcome is that in 2021, for one time only, the show is being held in September. This will mean that for the first time, the emphasis in the show gardens will be on the Autumnal rather than the late Spring.

I am delighted to be included in the show again and this will be the (delayed) tenth year since my first exhibit in 2011.

If you are planning to visit the Chelsea Flower show this year, do come and visit me on Stand EA418. We are about 50 metres past the Royal Hospital entrance on the right, before turning to the show gardens and grand pavilion.

In 2021 I have new, exciting pieces under way on the easel. If you would like advanced notice of these new paintings please subscribe to my mailing list.

RHS Chelsea Flower Show – 2020 Cancelled

Exhibition Stand 2019

Due to the Covid-19 outbreak, it has been necessary for the RHS to cancel the 2020 Chelsea Flower Show.

I was scheduled to exhibit at the show for the tenth year running and have been working on a small series of entirely new paintings which I planned to unveil at the show in late May. As we are all on effective lockdown, I am using the time to complete the paintings and will find a way to show them to you all via some virtual trickery! If you would like to ensure that you get advance notice of the new work, which is very PEONY heavy this year, please subscribe to my mailing list.

In troubled times, I hope my flowers can bring solace and joy. I wish you and your loved ones health and happiness and I hope to be able to welcome you to the 2021 show!

Summer Birthday Celebration 2019

This Summer I have been in my current studio for 11 years and my neighbour (and collaborator in the West Barn Gallery) has been in business for five years. To celebrate, we are staging a special Summer Exhibition beginning with an open day on Saturday 27th July and continuing through to the end of September.

We would love to welcome you at Great Walsingham Barns between 10am and 6pm and raise a glass to many more happy and successful years to come.
